REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED.  Hold and maintain a valid CDL with proper endorsements.

 

Experience Desired: Some knowledge of plumbing, heating, air conditioning and other electrical systems, construction/project management, and transportation.

 

Physical: Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, walking, and standing. Frequent bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, turning, and crouching. Occasional sitting, crawling, and climbing. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds intermittently. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

 

Other: Ability to recognize equipment malfunction. Ability to follow written and verbal direction effectively. Ability for calls on holidays, extended days and weekend activities. Ability to establish good rapport with administrators, staff, students, and the public. Ability to work modified assignments as necessary. Adhere to District’s Policies and Procedures.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  1. Responsible for the daily management and operation of: transportation, custodial, buildings and grounds maintenance of the district.
  2. Manage the hiring process, schedule, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline all transportation, custodial, maintenance, and grounds personnel.
  3. Ensure staff receive proper training and equipment to safely and efficiently perform job duties.
  4. Assist custodial, maintenance, and grounds personnel as necessary to complete projects and tasks in a timely manner.
  5. Organize and assist with setting up furniture and/or equipment for activities.
  6. Remain available during all regular bus routes.
  7. Work with building administration to identify issues, prioritize work activities, and direct personnel appropriately.
  8. Develop and maintain transportation routes and schedules for all activities including, but not limited to: co-curricular and extra trips, early dismissals, late starts, special services, staff travel, and summer programming. Inform the business office of any changes.  Secure substitute drivers when regular drivers are absent.
  9. Ensure all buildings, grounds, buses, vehicles and equipment are in safe and comfortable operating condition.
  10. Coordinate maintenance and upkeep of equipment, vehicles/buses, buildings, and grounds.
  11. Oversee the operation and preventative and corrective maintenance of all district building/grounds operating systems (mechanical electrical, heating and cooling, fire alarms, and sprinklers, plumbing and sewer, sound and lighting, facility entrance, irrigation, etc.).
  12. Oversee the annual inspection of buses.
  13. Coordinate snow and ice removal.
  1. Monitor video surveillance usage on buses.  Keep records of bus conduct notices and seek the assistance of the administration when necessary.
  1. Administer assigned budgets and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
  2. Collaborate with internal and external personnel in identifying, planning, and budgeting for the needs of the district (new construction, remodeling, replacement, repairs, equipment, etc.) in the short and long term.
  3. Prepare specifications and bids for proposed projects/activities.
  4. Ensures new construction, repair/remodeling, and other related jobs are completed efficiently, within budget, and specifications are met. Develops projects plans, monitors progress, and prepares reports for administration regarding the status of projects.
  5. Gather adequate quotes and required documents for procurement of supplies and services and submit to the business manager for approval.
  6. Establish and maintain relationships with third-parties such as inspectors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  7. Maintain a work order system to effectively manage requests for cleaning and repair.
  8. Maintain an inventory control system and procure supply and equipment needs for proper custodial, building, and grounds maintenance.
  9. Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns during the normal workday and after hours.
  10. Research a wide variety of topics for the purpose of ensuring compliance with relevant requirements, securing information for planning, taking appropriate actions, and/or responding to requests.
  11. Maintain and enforce all applicable safety regulations and procedures. Prepare and submit all required reports.
  12. Prepares a wide variety of materials for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, and providing supporting materials for requested actions.
  13. Promotes a positive image of the West Central School District.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
