JOB TITLE:	BOYS GOLF HEAD COACH
REPORTS TO:	High School Principal, Activities Director

                       

REQUIREMENTS           

Education:                           BA/BS Education (preferred)

 

Experience Desired:           High school head coaching experience desired

 

Physical:                               Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit. The ability to travel between locations.          

 

Other:                                   College course work in sport coaching and the prevention of athletic injuries. Teaching assignment in the building where coaching assignment is preferred

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

1. Assumes responsibility for the entire program including:
   1. coaches the varsity squad
   2. supervises assistant coaches 9-12
   3. determines athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time, in conjunction with assistant coach at the respective level
   4. positively promotes the athletic program within the schools and the community
   5. gives guidance to middle school coaches and programs feeding into respective high schools
   6. implements District athletic department polices.
2. Assists in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches.
3. Works with the Coordinator of Athletics and building athletic director in:
   1. formulation of game schedules
   2. arrangements for out-of-town trips
   3. preparation of athletic permission slips and eligibility lists
   4. preparation of budgets, equipment and supply requisitions
   5. solicitation of athletic insurance
   6. planning of new facilities and/or modification of existing facilities
4. Works with building athletic director to correlate the practice schedules of the ninth, sophomore, junior varsity, and varsity squads.
5. Supervises dressing rooms and playing area during and following periods of team participation.
6. Remains with students and supervises when traveling to away games.
7. Cares for athletes and injured athletes.
8. Cares for and maintains equipment and annual inventories.
9. Prepares award lists and collects athletic fees.
10. Attends all conference meetings or any other meeting where the program is involved.
11. Operates within the policies of the Big 8 and SDHSAA.
12. Works closely with custodians in control at facilities.
13. Keeps informed on current trends in designated sport and participates in respective clinics.
14. Maintains active membership in related professional organization.
15. Prepares list when teams are taken out of school to participate in athletic contest.
16. Maintains a staff relationship with other coaches.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Coordinator of Athletics.

CLIMATIC ENVIRONMENT

Often subjected to extremes of cold below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees. Occasionally subjected to extreme noise, odors, mists, dust and poor ventilation.

 

A post-offer criminal background check is required.
