REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) with SD Teacher Certificate (Required) with an elementary endorsement.
Experience Desired: Three years minimum teaching experience.
Physical: Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking, keyboarding, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, reaching, stooping, and turning. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other: Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills. Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, email, and internet. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and keep information confidential. Adhere to District’s Policies and Procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify and implement research-based strategies for student success.
- Provides high-quality instruction to students.
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level.
- Plans and designs interventions; selects research-based strategies, methods, activities, and materials specific to student needs.
- Maintains data and documentation for continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
- Provides data to school teams and participates in team decisions about student progress.
- Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student progress.
- Provides diagnostic assessments for students, as needed.
- Provides input for program development.
- Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems.
- Attends the appropriate trainings to improve knowledge and skills.
- Provides staff development opportunities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Maintains professional relationships with fellow teachers, administration, parents, and students.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Monitors students during recess, lunchroom, study halls, and in hallways.
- Supervises extra-curricular activities as assigned.
- Strives to help promote safety, health, and comfort of all students within the school district.
- Promotes a positive image of the West Central School District.
- Other duties as required by the school board, administration, or state law.
A post-offer criminal background check is required.
