GYMNASTICS HEAD COACH

REQUIREMENTS           

Education: BA/BS Education (preferred)

 

Experience Desired: High school head coaching experience desired

 

Physical: Hand-eye/ mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity

 

Other: College course work in sport coaching and prevention of athletic injuries. Teaching assignment in building preferred

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  1. Assumes responsibility for entire program 7-12. Supervises assistant coach.
  2. Assists in selection and evaluation of assistant coach.
  3. Works with Athletic Director in planning schedules.
  4. Is in charge of some fundraising for the team.
  5. Does bus schedules for meets.
  6. Holds parent meeting before 1st meet. (Discuss Insurance and eligibility rules)
  7. Visits middle school before season to sign up interested gymnasts for team.
  8. Keeps physical list, student and parent consent forms updated and current.
  9. Gets meet scores and Information to news media.
  10. Is in charge of uniforms/ handing out/ collection/ ordering.
  11. Travels with team to all events.
  12. Cares for all equipment and maintains inventory
  13. Cares for athletes and injured athletes. (Daily taping)
  14. Keeps accurate and up to date information on individual and team scores.
  15. Prepares award lists and holds annual banquet for athletes and parents.
  16. Attends all required coaching meetings, state local and rules meetings. Operates within the policies of the SDHSAA.
  17. Keeps informed and attend yearly state clinics for gymnastics.
  18. Maintains active membership in related professional organization.
  19. Prepares list when teams are taken out at school to participate in athletic contest.
  20. Works with and maintains a staff relationship with other coaches also attends other coaches events.
  21. Work within the Principal and Athletic Director to perform duties for the overall good of all athletic programs.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Gymnastics Area – Practice and home meets are held at Sioux Falls Power and Grace.
  2. Physical Working Conditions – Lifting and spotting of various size gymnasts.

 

A post-offer criminal background check is required.
