REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education Level: High School Diploma or GED.
B. Experience Desired: None.
C. Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, walking, and standing. Frequent bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, turning, and crouching. Occasional sitting, crawling, and climbing. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs intermittently. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
D. Other Requirements: Ability to recognize and repair equipment malfunctions. Ability to follow written and verbal directions effectively. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities with other staff based upon supervisor approval. Ability to work modified assignments as necessary. Ability to use hand and power tools. Adhere to District’s Policies and Procedures.
REPORTS TO: Building and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
RECEIVES GUDIANCE FROM: Superintendent/Building Principal/Business Manager.
WORKS WITH: Students, principals, certified and classified staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month calendar. Classified handbook applies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Performs maintenance tasks as directed by the building and grounds maintenance supervisor.
- Follows all governing regulations relating to building repair and maintenance (e.g., asbestos abatement).
- Works with the building and grounds maintenance supervisor to ensure proper maintenance of seasonal buildings and grounds’ needs are completed (e.g., heating systems, lawn mower and other seasonal equipment, maintenance, landscaping needs, spraying, snow removal).
- Prepares playing fields and other grounds and facilities for activities.
- Present a neat appearance.
- Establish good rapport with administrators, staff, students, and the public.
- Be punctual and follow an assigned schedule as the needs of the district dictate on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
- Assist other custodial personnel as deemed necessary to complete non-routine maintenance projects of the buildings and grounds.
- Adjust to irregular hours and respond to emergency calls.
- Strives to help promote safety, health and comfort of all students, employees and patrons of the school district.
- Attend workshops/demonstrations, when requested, in order to be knowledgeable of current needs in building and ground maintenance.
- Performs minor repairs.
- Follows safety procedures.
- Promotes a positive image of the West Central School District.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
